Visa On Arrival

1. Am I eligible for visa-on-arrival?

Visa-on-arrival is available to citizens of most countries. However, applications are only accepted from countries listed in our application system.

Additional notes:

  • Citizens of Southeast Asian countries do not require a visa for short visits to Vietnam.
  • Nationals of Japan, South Korea, and Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden) may stay in Vietnam for up to 45 days without a visa.
  • For stays exceeding the visa exemption period, you may apply for visa-on-arrival.

2. Can I change the details after I get the approval letter?

Once the approval letter has been issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department, the personal details listed—such as your name, gender, and date of birth—cannot be modified. If any information is incorrect or if your intended arrival date changes, you must submit a new application with updated information.

3. Do I need to purchase a return ticket before I apply?

No. Purchasing a return or onward ticket is not mandatory when applying for a visa-on-arrival. However, you are required to provide an estimated arrival date on the application form. Please note that you may not enter Vietnam before the approved entry date specified in your approval letter.

4. How does visa-on-arrival work?

To obtain a visa-on-arrival, applicants must complete the online application form accurately, ensuring that their name and passport number exactly match the information on their passport. Once processed, an approval letter will be sent via email. Travelers must print this letter and present it, along with their passport, two passport-sized photos, and a completed entry-exit form, at a designated international airport in Vietnam to receive their visa.

5. How long am I allowed to stay in Vietnam?

Visa-on-arrival allows for a maximum stay of 30 days. Should you require a longer stay, you may apply for an extension through a local travel agency while in Vietnam, subject to approval by the Immigration Department.

6. How long does it take to finish the procedure at Vietnam Airport?

The visa issuance process at Vietnam airports generally takes 15–45 minutes. However, during peak periods, it may take up to 1.5 hours.

To ensure a smooth procedure, please prepare the following:

  • Printed visa approval letter
  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of exit
  • At least one blank page in the passport
  • Two recent passport-sized photos
  • Visa stamping fee in cash: USD 25 (single entry) or USD 50 (multiple entries)

7. How long does it take to have my visa application processed?

Standard visa processing typically takes 3–5 business days. Expedited services are available for same-day or next-day processing for an additional fee.

  • Applications submitted before 8:00 AM (Vietnam time, GMT+7) are typically processed by noon.
  • Applications submitted after noon may be processed by 5:00 PM the same day.
  • Applications submitted after 5:00 PM are processed the next business day.

8. Is visa-on-arrival legitimate?

Yes. Visa-on-arrival is an officially recognized method of obtaining a visa to Vietnam. It is issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department and is valid for entry at designated international airports. Travelers must apply for an approval letter in advance, which is presented upon arrival to receive the visa.

9. What is the “approval letter”?

The “Visa Approval Letter” is an official document issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department authorizing you to enter and exit Vietnam within a specified period. Upon arrival at one of Vietnam’s international airports—Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, or Cam Ranh (Nha Trang)—this letter allows you to obtain your visa.

Note: Approval letters are often issued in batches. Therefore, your name and personal details may appear alongside those of other applicants. If you require a private letter for confidentiality, please contact us at info@rushvietnamvisa.com.

10. Why should I apply online for a Vietnam visa?

Applying online is convenient for those who do not live near a Vietnamese embassy or consulate. While visa-on-arrival may involve waiting times at the airport, an e-Visa is pre-approved prior to travel, allowing faster entry at airports, land crossings, and seaports. The online process is fast, reliable, and efficient.

11. Will the approval letter be sent to me by mail?

The visa approval letter will be sent directly to your registered email address. This is one of the advantages of the visa-on-arrival service, offering convenience and secure digital delivery. Please ensure that the email address provided during the application process is accurate and accessible.
